Back with a Vengeance

Blogland! I have returned to the homefront, sadie-sadie-married-lady, and I have beaucoup things to tell you about.

Good thing, too because, really, why sit around basking in marital/vacation-al bliss when I can get down to business. I have committed to participating in NaBloPoMo: National Blog Posting Month this November. In this case, it's more like International Blog Posting Month. What this means to me ... posting once a day for the entire month, and no cop-out "wah! blogging is hard!" posts, either. I'm talking real-deal-expat-life-Down-Under-goodness.

What this means to you depends on your blog-reading stamina. I do hope that some of you will tune in everyday to help keep me honest.

Participating in this is a checklist off of a big list of goals that I made over the summer. I don't believe that writing everyday is a sustainable way for me to blog, nor is it sustainable for you to read; however, I like the idea of practicing the discipline it is going to take to write well consistently, come up with creative and substantive content that I might not have thought of otherwise, and actually plan ahead, instead of garbling whatever comes into my head.

(As always, if there is anything about expat life or Australia that you're curious about, I do take requests. This moth more than ever!)

And because I live in Australia, that means that November is here now ... let the mad posting begin. It's you and me, November. And you guys, too.

  1. I've been reading your blog on and off for a bit! I'm living on the East Coast - (in America) and I hope to head on over to Sydney to visit a friend early next year. Your blog is quite amusing and am glad I caught it!

And since you've asked ... I most definitely have a couple of questions for you! Hope it helps the coming posts! What things do you miss from the US (and don't have in Australia)? If you were to receive a care package from here, what would you like to be in it?

Anyway, I'm a reader and a silent follower - and had to chime in here! Congrats on your marriage and good luck on your blog posts!

  3. @Mandy - Thanks for reading! And, thanks also for the questions. I've been thinking all about the care package question ... in fact, we've been thinking about creating a list for our friends back home, so that we remember because it is such random stuff. I'll work up a post about it. :-)

@Hed - Well, they do NaBloPoMo every month, but November is the big month since it is also National Novel Writing Month. By the way, where in Queensland are you? We just came back from Port Douglas and had an awfully hard time leaving - we loved it so much, and it reminded us of Florida.

  4. Hey, my hubs and I are an hour inland of Townsville. Really hard going from California to a town of 7,000 let me tell you! But yeah, the scenery is like nothing I've ever seen before-I still prefer the city, isn't that terrible? :) Hed
