Heloise Here

Australian readers, I have for you a wholly unsolicited product recommendation.

Last night, I had a huge problem ... it was between me, an enthusiastic bottle of sparkling shiraz and my white carpet. More specifically, an 8 inch diameter red wine stain.

We rent. Our carpets were spotless when we moved in. I do not know how I kept from weeping like a baby at the Red Blob that was the size of my head.

We didn't have any carpet cleaner in the house, so we spent the night trying the usual home remedies: White wine. Vinegar. Salt. I even spent about an hour trying this cool (but ultimately ineffective) poor-man's steam cleaning trick using an iron, soapy water, and a towel.

We got it to a most alluring shade of rose.
Crayola might have named it "Still Definitely Losing Your Deposit Pink."

I googled around to find recommendations for the most effective carpet cleaning solution, and then sent Partner-in-Crime off to Bunning this afternoon (basically Home Depot, for you Americans) to buy Glitz Carpet Stain Remover. FYI - I think you can only buy it at Bunnings.

Glitz. My hero. On the no-longer-red scene of the crime.

Miracles. After one application, it's like the stain was never there. I never dreamed that stain would come out completely, but it looks exactly like it did moments before I popped that fateful cork last night. Feeling cocky, I tried the cleaner on a few older small greyish spots we have here and there, and it worked wonders on them, too.

I promise, I have been paid nothing to write this. I am just so grateful that I want to pass along the word. I am going to be keeping Glitz in my cabinet from now on to save me from future shag-induced panic attacks.
