Day Zero Update

It has been very many ages since I updated about the Day Zero Project. Admittedly, my progress has slowed a bit, but I attribute that to my knocking off the "low hanging fruit" of goals early. Now I'm into the weeds.

(Sorry, Charlie, that was a lazy mixing of metaphors and a shameful use of cliches.)

Linguistic malfeasance aside - here is what I have accomplished since I last updated.

Go to the Australian Open

We went in January, and it was an ace of a time. I may have become a little obsessed with the tennis.

Go to the dentist

Lucky for me, Partner-in-Crime's tennis buddy happens to be a dentist, so, I was able to go someone I could trust. It had been a shockingly long time since my last visit, and I was amazed that I did not have any new cavities. The bad news was the one of my old fillings had started to erode, but he fixed it on the spot, and caught it before it got the the stage where I would have needed a root canal. Lesson learned. See your dentist!

Go to New Zealand

Done and done. (And done, and done, and done, and done). Hope we'll get to go back again one of these days.

Take a dance class with Partner in Crime

It's all very Dirty Dancing (the funny beginning at the resort, not the sexy part), but we took some dance lessons on our cruises last year. They were all on the short side - each a half an hour or so - so I decided that we needed to take more than one to cross it off list. In the end, we took tango, cha cha, merengue and salsa. Tango was my favorite, though maybe merengue was really more my skill level. Still, it was all pretty much a hoot.

Om. Om. Om.
Go to a yoga retreat

Been there, done that, and literally got the t-shirt.

Take a CPR class

Thanks to Groupon, and one of the most boring afternoons in recent memory, I am now certified in CPR and First Aid.

Learn to use camera beyond auto function

It is a bit appalling how much of this list has been completed via Groupon. But, last weekend, I took a photography basics class. Basics, indeed, but I picked up a few "pro" tips and now at least understand what aperture and shutter speed are. So, we're calling this one done.

Recap: here is where I am. Some of these goals, I now have no idea why I put them on the list in the first place. And some I know that, realistically I will not get done. But, I have just under a year left, so plenty of time to keep pushing on and crossing off...
